Ms.Ranjitha is a well known Indian actress and has been in the film/television industry for over 18 years. She had been married to an army officer for over 10 of those years. She successfully juggled her profession with family and social service activities.
She made her Tamil film debut through Bharathiraja’s ‘Nadodi Thendral’ in 1992. Within a short span of 6 years she acted in more than 60 films in all 4 South Indian languages with most leading actors and with many of the prestigious names in South Indian Cinema. Some of her career highlights are recognition as the heroine with maximum number of movie releases for 2 consecutive years in Tamil Cinema, and recipient of the Andhra Pradesh Government Nandi Award for 1996 performance in the Telugu movie ‘Maavichiguru’.
After marriage, her family life took precedence.
At the same time, She kept in touch with her acting career through select movie and television projects. Simultaneously throughout her public life, her interest and participation in social service activities had not waned and she continued to support and engage with several NGOs such as The Banyan, Prevention of Crime, Victim Care (PCVC) and others. She carried the same interest to army life and was an active figure in women’s welfare activities in the Indian Army.
At this time, March 2nd, 2010, exploded on her destroying her reputation, career and life. A morphed video was telecast on Sun TV purporting it to be of her and Paramahamsa Nithyananda. And shortly picked up other media channels, sensationalized and broadcast all over television, print and electronic. No verification or authentication of the news before destroying lives!
