When His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda was appointed the Pontiff (Madadhipati) of the four most ancient monasteries, called ‘Shaivite mutts’ in Tamil Nadu, South India, the followers and devotees called ‘Shaivaites’ of Sadashiva (the superconsciousness source, as per Hinduism) rejoiced world-wide! He breathed life back into the institutions by reinvigorating their age-old traditions and began to bring the spiritual legitimacy to Hinduism.
However, not all were celebrating His appointment as the Pontiff. In an orchestrated conspiracy to commit cultural genocide against Paramahamsa Nithyananda, the anti-social elements organized gang violence against His devotees. The monks of the Nithyananda Order were repeatedly and savagely attacked by the illegal trespassers and hooligans as they entered their property. For several years continuously, at different locations, at different times, the paid hooligans belonging to anti-human elements were sent to each monastery (mutt) in several towns in South India such as Thiruvarur, Vedaranyam, and Thanjavur to assault the innocent monks who dedicated their lives to serve these temples and communities. selflessly.
Further attempting to malign the sacred spiritual repute, the paid media falsely presented Paramahamsa Nithyananda and His devotees as criminals, completely dehumanizing them. Still, to this day, Paramahamsa Nithyananda and his disciples are unable to safely enter their own properties, perpetuating the cultural genocide of an ancient living tradition.

The Conspiracy Begins: Court Order to Prohibit Entry to Traditional Monasteries
Meanwhile, vested interests, who were enjoying the mutt properties earlier, created a conspiracy to remove Paramahamsa Nithyananda as the Pontiff (Madadhipati) of these monasteries of rich cultural heritage with the malicious intent to control, grab, and misuse the properties of these mutts. To effect this, they did not allow the disciples of Paramahamsa Nithyananda to take over the operations of the traditional monasteries (mutt). Therefore, they filed a case against Paramahamsa Nithyananda seeking an order to prohibit Him and His representatives inside these mutts.
Victory in the Legal Battle: Full Rights of Monasteries Given to Paramahamsa Nithyananda
The Hon’ble High Court of Madras dismissed the petition initiated against Paramahamsa Nithyananda attempting to prohibit Him or His representatives from reviving or even performing puja in the four major ancient mutts in South India. The age-old mutts in contention were from South India, Tamil Nadu, the districts of Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, and Thirvarur. The Hon’ble Court thereby upheld the interim injunction granted in this regard by the Court at Nagapattinam giving the full rights of these monasteries (mutts) to Paramahamsa Nithyananda.
The strong order unequivocally establishes the right of Paramahamsa Nithyananda over the 4 mutts as Madadhipati as the administrator of the mutts and their properties.
The Hon’ble High Court clearly ruled that once Pontiff (Madadhipati) is appointed by a nomination deed as in the present case as per Tamil Nadu HR&CE Act only the civil court has jurisdiction to decide any issue with regard to Pontiff (Madadhipati).
The Hon’ble High Court also stated that the petition seeking to strike off the original complaint and challenging the appointment of Pointiff (Madadhipati) is invalid and it upheld the order of the lower court granting absolute injunction for the administration of the suit. The court asserted the order stating that it has the supervising power over all the courts subordinate to it.
The verdict also goes a long way in supporting Paramahamsa Nithyananda’s vision of restoring many of the ancient Hindu monasteries (mutts) which are in a dilapidated state nearing extinction and are being prevented from its rightful cultural reverence and spiritual administration. These are being maliciously confiscated by Anti-Hindu forces, having the influence of local leaders and hooligans, who have low-cost, long-term leases. Otherwise, they simply occupied the premises belonging to these mutts, illegally.
Even physical force and death threats have been used to evict the monks. In spite of this blatant religious persecution in India, where the majority practiced religion is Hinduism, the Monks of the Nithyananda Order bravely fought the war for Hinduism and have triumphantly won. In the face of all odds, including threats of murder, molestation, and physical assault, the monks (Sanyasis) have stood with spiritual strength and deeper dedication.

Despite the Court Orders, persecution continues
The court verdict is very clear that Paramahamsa Nithyananda is legally the Pontiff (Madadhipati) of these Four Mutts and has full rights over them. In spite of that, some anti-Hindu criminals who are against Paramahamsa Nithyananda and Hinduism, with the intention to grab the properties of these Mutts did not allow Paramahamsa Nithyananda’s disciples and devotees to enter the traditional monasteries (mutts) and began violent attacks against both male and female monks. Many were severely injured, while the female monks were abused and harassed both physically and verbally by violent mobs.

Disciples of His Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda were brutally attacked by the local mafia at the four mutts in southern Tamil Nadu at Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Panchanadikarai, and Vedaranyam over the last few days. Paramahamsa Nithyananda’s disciples have been running these mutts after the previous Pontiff (Madathipati), Swami Atmananda, transferred them legally and irrevocably to His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda in September 2014. However, after seeing the mutts being administered well, local groups grew greedy for the properties of the mutt. There have been various attempts by the local mafia to evict the disciples of His Divine Holiness. The recent attacks are a continuation of these illegal attempts.
The court at Nagapattinam, in an interim order, has clearly ruled that the mutts should remain with Nithyananda Peetham after reviewing the facts of the case. These attempts to take over the mutts (traditional monasteries) are in clear violation of the court order, and the attacks against the Sanyasis who have dedicated their lives selflessly for humanity is highly contemptible.

Below are the Pictures where the vested interest criminals, along with their paid rowdies, attacked the sannyasis of Paramahamsa Nithyananda at Tanjore Palswamy Mutt. Their goal was to take control of the mutts for which Paramahamsa Nithyananda was appointed as Mathadhipathi, the traditional and legal head.
Attacked by rogue mobs, female Sannyasi Ma Nithya Preetananda Swami, a Ph.D graduate who has dedicated her life for the service of humanity, was severely injured. She fainted on the spot and was rushed to the hospital. That day was a horrible day in her life, where she was physically and verbally abused by the rowdies and paid gundas.
She shared that incident as it happened:
Myself and my sister sanyasis were eating outside the temple on the verandah. We were having a late breakfast, past noon. As we started eating, we saw about 10 women and more than 50 men lining up in front of us.
They started mocking us. They called us prostitutes, saying we should not be allowed to sit in the temple premise; we should be dragged and thrown outside! I had never heard such violent words in my life. The women were actually drunk. That added more shock to me. Suddenly, they jumped me and started pulling my hands. I literally screamed, loudly, not understanding why they are doing to this to me.
After the women, the men who were standing there started passing derogatory comments about me.
One voice said, ‘I had done so many crimes. I don’t mind making one more crime even in front of so many people. She is looking fair and nice. I will have physical relationship in front of these people, for which I don’t care.’
Hearing this, my whole body started shivering. Legs started shaking. I fell down on the floor and fainted.
I was not only unconscious; my breathing itself stopped. My sister swamis were terrified. They were trying to give first aid attempt to retrieve my breathing, but I was still on the floor. To their utmost shock, one man screamed to another man saying, ‘Dei, they are acting! Go and lie on top of her! We will then come to know whether she is acting or really fainted. Anyways, she is looking beautiful.’ Saying this, they came near me in spite of everyone there.
My sister swamis couldn’t handle that! They wanted to safeguard me before I got physically abused. By Swamiji’s divine grace, when they prayed to Him, one woman police officer came to rescue me from those attackers. She held on other side and had helped to carry me. They had carried me towards the vehicle to take me to hospital. But even with her there, these gundas stopped the way.
More police joined her, and with much effort, they cleared the path to take me safely inside the car. I got admitted in Government Hospital and became conscious after a few hours. Even then, those gundas came searching for me! Feeling insecure, I discontinued the hospital treatment to protect my life and had to go into hiding.
This all happened in front of media. But none of them presented the actual attack. Instead, they portrayed my sisters and me as instigators, and sided with the drunken thugs who tried to rape and beat us.)
