The continuous relay of the infamous morphed video by media channels was a direct breach of the law. Dignity of a respectable woman was inhumanely slandered by relaying the morphed videos every few minutes in TV channels. Ms. Ranjitha has survived unwarranted and unimaginable attack on her character. Fighting for her rights, she filed a petition against the TV channel that aired the morphed video and had the TV channel apologised for their indecent act.

Ms Ranjitha filed Petition no 8619/2011 against various print and electronic media on February 24, 2011 before Karnataka High Court objecting to the obscene and defamatory content in an attempt to link her to His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, News Broadcasting Standards Authority and the Press Council of India were also made respondents. The Hon’ble judge of the Karnataka High Court issued an Interim order restraining the respondents from telecasting the obscene scenes on the very same day of filing. The court issued Emergent notice to all respondents since the petition raised serious questions regarding the dignity and rights of women. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting filed an objection on Feb 13, 2012, wherein it stated that the ministry has advised TV channels as also the News Broadcasting Standards Authority to ensure strict compliance with the court order and submits that further action will be taken by the Ministry in the light of judicial determination done by the Court.

By now enough proof to support the fact that the video is fake is available.
Indian regulatory broadcasting agency, TELEVISION STATION ITSELF admits the video was morphed. But they aired it anyway to get ratings despite court order otherwise.
