Sacred History of Bengaluru Aadheenam

Cultural Heritage Site  – The Spiritual History from 10,000 years

Founded by His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda, the Bengaluru Aadheenam, in the sacred land called ‘Bidadi’ in South India is one of the most sacred places of the world’s great religions.  Spread over 62 acres, it provides immense spiritual and culture evidence about the nature and experience of a world Hindu pilgrimage center, dating as early as 10,000 years. It is here, the Superconscious Divinity manifested Itself in form as Lord Sadashiva and Devi Adishakti and revealed the greatest source scriptures that form the core foundations of Sanatana Hindu Dharma (Hinduism).

The historical evidence of this sacred land is described in the great Hindu scripture, Srimad Ramayana, during the forest wanderings of Sri Rama Prabhu (the seventh incarnation of Sri Vishnu). Sanctified and worshiped directly by Sri Rama Prabhu, his divine associates along with seven great sages, it has been the ultimate place of worship and spiritual energies for the Hindus and for people of all cultural denominations.

Rediscovered, revived and reverentially conserved for posterity from the year 2003 by His Divine Holiness, it is dedicated to Lord Sadashiva (the most revered Divinity in Hinduism) in the form of a self-manifest Linga (svayambhu linga) and in the form of a primordial Banyan Tree Deity. The spiritual values and knowledge history, therefore, make it a sacred landmark site as well as ultimate pilgrimage presided by many Hindu Divinities and their followers. Thus, this energy field holds utmost historical and outstanding spiritual values for the ultimate benefit of humanity.

The Banyan Tree

It is this very place where today stands the Bengaluru Aadheenam. The breathing space of superconscious energy enveloped by cosmic energy, it is here that the language of vibrating silence surpasses the language of the spoken.

The vast umbrella of this ancient tree encloses a space resonant with spiritual energies. It is under this umbrella the majestic statue of Dakshinamurti resides, the first-ever Guru, imparting the deepest spiritual truths to his disciples in silence.

Over the years, this sacred space has acquired a powerful reputation for healing, wish-fulfilment and awakening spiritual clarity, and draws visitors and seekers from around the world of all cultural denominations. Here, one can find three trees: Athi (holy Fig), Ala (Banyan) and Arasa (Peepal), known to bear fruits without bearing flowers.

Self-Manifested Divinity (Swayambhu Linga)

Over 1000 years, the banyan tree has grown and spread its foliage here, under which was found the self-manifested Linga, from the archaeological remains of the great temple that exists here.

At the base of the banyan tree is a cave-like hollow in which was found a swayambhu lingam (naturally formed Shiva lingam), which has now been consecrated at the Sri Nithyanandeshwara MahaSadashiva Temple.

Impregnated with healing energy, this space heals at the physical, emotional and spiritual levels. It bears a mystical connection to Shambhala – the metaphysical space of enlightened Masters.
