His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda was coronated as the successor and 293rd Pontiff of Madurai Aadheenam, the most ancient religious organization and monastery in the world.
Immediately, following His coronation, Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) and other Hindu outfits opposed His appointment, staging protest against Him in Madurai. They claimed that Paramahamsa Nithyananda was chosen without the consultation of disciples and heads of other mutts. They further alleged that He was not qualified as He had not been trained in religious rituals.
The 292nd Pontiff of Madurai Aadheenam, Arunagirinatha Paramsariyar Swamigal, denied these allegations, stating that he has the sole power to decide who is His successor and that Paramahamsa Nithyananda is more than qualified.
In a statement, Arunagirinatha Paramsariyar Swamigal defended his decision to appoint Paramahamsa Nithyananda as his successor, saying that He has full power to decide who is his successor.
He further states that Paramahamsa Nithyananda is more than qualified to be his successor.
Later Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) leader publicly apologized to Paramahamsa Nithyananda and pledge his complete support to Him and His mission.
