This saga is about the tenacious media attack on His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda who was subjected to a media trial and imprisoned for 53 days in Ramanagara Jail in Karnataka without a victim. Surely, this is a historical event in the almanac of Indian Judiciary.
My background: A science graduate from Delhi University with exposure to working in various reputable Organizations such as in hospitality at Taj Trade and Transport Company of Taj Group of Hotels. Merchandising Manager with Intershoppe, at Modi Xerox and Product Manager at Maseera International at United Arab Emirates; prior to my marriage.Have traveled extensively and lived as resident in many different countries, such as Singapore, Jakarta, Bangalore and New Delhi and different States in the Unites States – Ohio, Florida, California – provided the opportunity to become well versed to the sensitivities of different cultures. Living a successful and comfortable life; having all luxuries at my disposable – a nagging feeling of lack of something missing in me led me to introduction to my Gurudev, His Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda.
In fact, my first meeting with Him was of a mystical nature – one early morning He was standing at the foot of my bed and smiling at me. I had never seen Him or knew about Him prior to this. In fact, on opening my eyes and seeing Him standing there in itself filled me with great anxiety as I did not know who this person was. One moment He resembled my brother, next moment He looked like my father both of whom were no longer with us and I was very close to. I could not understand what to make of this darshan as at that point there was fear, anxiety, curiosity all mangled up arising in me. To ensure this was really happening to me, I pinched myself and after sometime not knowing what to do – I closed my eyes. When I opened them again, He was gone but I could not forget the image. Exactly a month after this divine darshan, He was invited to the city we were living in and when our eyes met for first time, something leapt out of me and I was overpowered with this strong feeling of rightness – this is it!!! My search is over – I’m home now and I’ve never looked back since then. Currently, as an initiated sanyasin of Nithyananda Order still waiting for justice to be granted against the heinous crime of maligning the image of my Guru, Paramahamsa Nithyananda by Lenin Karuppan.
The Attack
The shocking news of the continuous replay of the morphed video created such a stir not only in India but globally -leaving all aghast. For me, personally, it was a double whammy – my mother had just passed away a week ago when the horrific news about my Guru hit the networks. Instantly, it came to my understanding that someone is out to destroy Him – whom I did not know.
ALL major networks were in a frenzy as they had some sensational news to boost their TRP and could care less about the validity of the news. Having been showered by multiple powerful spiritual experiences, I felt blessed to know the truth about Paramahamsa Nithyananda. This heinous crime was to assassinate His public image and decimate His organization – both of which had been expanding at an exponential rate -to the amazement of many who could not digest this fact.
Over next few days, it became blatantly obvious that some powerful anti- hindu group was funding the entire operation. Their objective was very clear – to run a media campaign geared towards character assasination – which they did so successfully. Repeat telecasts dug deep into the psyche of the general public and the name “Nithyananda” became known to one and all – overnight.
We were a peaceful, loving group of devotees interested in furthering our spiritual quest and to have been bombarded with such sensational propaganda with clear motive of maligning the public image and decimating the organization, completely threw us off balance. We were ill-prepared and unorganized to retaliate in appropriate fashion for which we paid the heavy price of having to live through the agony of watching our Gurudev being illegally imprisoned for 53 days.
We were spread out globally and left isolated to deal with the personal trauma of having to watch fanatics who had never even seen or met Swamiji; burning His ashram, stamping His pictures with their shoes, beating His ashramites, verbal abuse and what not – it was literally akin to a scene from a horror movie. May no one ever have to undergo the suffering and pain we went through, standing on the sidelines, helpless.
After the initial fever of hate and terror abated, I decided as a citizen of this country, my personal sentiments have been violated and demand justice and filed a case against conspirator – Lenin Karuppan. The case is currently filed in the District Courts at Ramanagara, awaiting justice.
