Property damaged in Nithyananda Peetam, Chettur in Tamil Nadu Paramahamsa Nithyananda’s viciously torn with intent to hurt religious sentiments of devotees worldwide.
Murugan, aged about 32 years, wished to lodge this complaint with the police. He has been a devotee of His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda since 2006 and has benefited tremendously because of Him. As a result, he decided to live a Spiritual Life and become an aadheenavasi (resident) at Nithyananda Peetam (monastery), Chettur in Rajayapalayam Taluk, Virudhunagar District in Tamil Nadu. He stays there performing seva (service) and spiritual practices.
He stays alone as a part of his voluntary spiritual practice. The Peetham is 10 Kms away from the Chettur village and is surrounded by forest. Wild animals like bears roam freely in this area and hence he stays inside a building with the doors locked.
During his stay there, some anti-social elements from Chettur Village would regularly come to this area and in a drunken mood, start abusing Paramahamsa Nithyananda and him. Often, they used to roam around, throwing stones and bottles at the campus. These anti-social elements are allegedly involved in killing wild animals for flesh and money as well as illegal drug activity with ganja.
Murugan did not file a complaint against these thugs because he felt it would disturb the relationship with the local villagers. But he had often informed about these attacks to a local villager named Karuppaiya.
On 28-01-2018 around 2.15 PM, 3 identifiable persons belonging to Chettur Village, names unknown, came to the campus building and started shouting, “hey come out”. He enquired, “who are you and what do you want.” They shouted back, “we need water open the door.”
When he opened the door, the 3 persons immediately entered the room. The bike that they used was standing at 50 feet away. They were drunk and he smelled the odour of the drinks. The first person just pushed and threw him towards the wall. He hit his head and it swelled up. He asked them “What do you want?” The intruders responded, “Bastard, I Want Ranjitha, give her phone number, I want to talk to her.” He replied, “I don’t know, leave this place.”
The first person threatened him saying, “Something illegal is happening here. Better you leave this place else I will kill you.” Murugan replied that, “I am staying here alone and nothing illegal is happening here, so don’t create problem and leave the place.”
Immediately, the first person slapped him on the face heavily saying, “only when you are killed it will be OK.” Murugan tried to escape from there, so that he could lock himself in the next room for his safety. But, when he tried to move the other two persons surrounded him and started attacking.
The second person started kicking Paramahamsa Nithyananda’s photo with his leg. As a result, the photo broke into pieces. He kicked the kitchen utensils and damaged them.
Then the first person pushed him heavily down to the floor. The second person kicked him on the neck with his leg continuously and the first person kicked him in the stomach. They were using abusive filthy words while beating him.
The pain was intolerable and he could not defend or protect himself from them. The third person threw the kitchen utensils on him and attacked him. He was helpless and shouted “Save… save…” The face and neck area had swollen up because of the heavy attack.
Then they forcibly grabbed the phone worth Rs.13000 from him and went out of the room. He immediately locked the room and asked them to give back the phone. Out of anger they again threw stones at the building.
Before they left the place, they shouted, “When we come you should not be here. Else we will burn you using petrol, when come along the side of Chettur village you, return as dead body” and, “we will tell the village people that you have attacked us and bring the whole village against you.” After saying these words, the intruders escaped, quickly. He could not notice the motorbike number since it was kept at a distance.
Recently when Murugan tried to call his lost mobile phone, from another aadheenavasi on 30-01-2018 at 3.15 PM. Someone attended the phone. When he enquired, he said, “wrong number,” and switched off the phone.
Now, he stays outside Chettur since he face life threats. Murugan shares, “Still, I could not come out of the trauma. I brought courage and decided to give complaint now to take appropriate legal action.”
A similar incident took place during 2011 where one aadheenavasi staying there in Chettur was attacked brutally, with mobile phone and other things robbed. A complaint was given that time also but no action was taken.
The complaint reads,
“So for the reasons of Trespassing in Private Property, Attempt to murder, Abusing, Destroying/Damaging worshipping places, damaging properties, threatening and robbery, threatening to murder and other crimes, I hereby request you to file a case and take action against the persons, and get back my robbed mobile phone. I hereby request you to ensure that such attack wouldn’t happen in future and ensure the security of my life and the property of Nithyananda Peetham. I plead the Police to do the needful.”
