Sun TV, a popular Tamil television channel is largely watched by the mainstream South Indian populous with its syndicated broadcasting in several other countries. Sun TV emerged as the propagandist media house which grossly violated not only the basic Journalism ethics and standards, but also proved as a scandal-mongering corrupted media of inhumane proportions.
Being a public figure, it was a humongous ordeal for her to survive this emotional and psychological trauma. She faced social boycott and ridicule. Her image as a woman and her chaste relationship with her Guru was demonically tarnished. This attack was a part of religious persecution against Hindus by targeting Hindu Gurus and their devotees. In response to the attack, Ms. Ranjitha had filed a character defamation case against both the accused and they have been summoned by Chennai Court.
Ms. Ranjitha filed criminal defamation complaints against Sun TV and their two Tamil dailies, Dinakaran and Tamil Murasu, before the Third Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Bangalore in December 2011, for recklessly defaming her through false articles and the morphed video allegedly linking her to her Guru, His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda in a derogatory manner. Advocates P.Nehru and Murugaiya Babu filed the petitions on behalf of Ms.Ranjitha. By the sheer gravity of the offence, the Hon’ble Chief Magistrate has taken cognizance and issued summons to the three accused parties. The accused list includes Vijay Kumar (CEO, Sun TV), Saxena (former CEO, Sun TV), Jothiswaran (Program Manager, Sun TV), K. Vijayakumar (Editor and Publisher, Dinakaran and Tamil Murasu Tamil daies), R. M. R. Ramesh (Editor and Publisher, Dinakaran and Tamil Murasu Tamil dailies)
Ms.Ranjitha is taking action against sections of the media that have abused her consistently with their unethical reporting for their vested interests. Awaiting for justice to prevail.
