Disciples of Paramahamsa Nithyananda were brutally attacked by local mafia at the four mutts (monasteries) in southern Tamil Nadu over the last few days.
27 Nov 2015, Thanjavur, South India: Disciples of His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda have been administering the traditional monasteries (mutts) in South India at the temple towns namely – Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Panchanadikarai, and Vedaranyam since the previous Pontiff, Madathipathi Sri Atmananda transferred them legally and irrevocably to His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda in September 2014.
After seeing the mutts being administered well and being revived to their glory, and because of their atrocious greed for the properties of the mutts, there have been various attempts by the local mafia to evict Paramahamsa Nithyananda’s disciples. The recent attacks against Sanyasis (monks) are a continuation of these illegal attempts. They have been beaten up with iron rods and other weapons ruthlessly brutally without regard for basic human life. And above all they are sanyasis(hindu monks), most revered and respected in the society, what does it take to allow them to live their lives peacefully?

The court at Nagapattinam, in an interim order, has clearly ruled that the mutts should remain with Nithyananda Peetam after seeing the facts of the case. These attempts to take over the mutts are in clear violation of the court order. Therefore, the attacks against the Sanyasis who have given their lives for the cause of service are completely unjustified and highly contemptible.
Sanyasi was taken to the hospital after being beaten in the head.
