In March 2010, His Divine Holiness Paramahamsa Nithyananda was subjected to a media trial by making viral an infamous video depicting Him in morphed images.
The persistent and repeated telecast of fabricated media propaganda against Paramahamsa Nithyananda dug deep into the psyche of the public leading to his arrest without a trial. The pleas of the emotionally drawn and helpless devotees fell on deaf ears of the authorities. Knowing very well that they would not be able to hold him under arrest, for long; the CID officials of Karnataka went on hunting spree to book other charges against him.
They came up with bizarre stories of him violating Endangered species Act as he used a fabric print of a tiger skin on his seat which they considered to be a real tiger skin. Another one was accusing him of exporting sandal wood when there was absolutely no such case. Sandalwood trees naturally grow in the monastery land. The news of finding foreign currency was another one of their similar attempts. Such was the desperation with which the officials went about hunting for clues to prolong his un- justified stay in prison;much against the sentiments of his devotees who were eagerly awaiting his release.
In fact, the CID officers who interrogated Paramahamsa Nithyananda could not find any additional disparities to book him for and were in grave concern as the existing two cases did not hold strong evidence to continue to keep him under arrest.
Meanwhile, by publishing such defaming articles they are corrupting the minds of at least 1.5 lakh readers subscribed to their paper, damaging the public image of Paramahamsa Nithyananda and hurting the sentiments of his devotees.
